Extended Care for Sexual Recovery

The road to recovery is not the same for every individual. Extended care is for those people who need extra time to make the transition back to their former lives.

The Meadows Dakota

Extended Care for Sexual Recovery

Set amid the saguaro and mesquite of Arizona’s rugged Sonoran Desert lies an oasis of healing, a sanctuary for recovery. It’s The Meadows Dakota, a nine-bed extended care facility dedicated to healing individuals suffering from the devastating effects of sexual addiction and sexual trauma.

Based on the work of Pia Mellody and Dr. Patrick Carnes, renowned experts in the fields of sexual addiction and trauma, the therapeutic program at Dakota addresses the symptoms of compulsive sexual behavior while at the same time delving deeply into the underlying root cause—developmental immaturity and early childhood trauma.

The treatment program at The Meadows Dakota includes:

  • Group and individual sessions
  • EMDR
  • Somatic Experiencing
  • Family/couples therapy
  • Art therapy
  • Equine therapy
  • Spiritual counseling
  • Tai chi, yoga and acupuncture
  • 12-step meetings

At Dakota, we understand that sometimes victims of sexual addiction and trauma need extra time to heal—and to develop the coping skills necessary for long-term recovery and wellness. The extended care program at Dakota provides that precious time, typically from 60 to 90 days of intensive care after primary treatment, with therapies that focus on trauma resolution, 12-step traditions and the holistic healing of mind, body and spirit.
